Detroit’s disgraced former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was handed a sentence of up to five years in prison today by a Wayne County Circuit Court for violating the terms of his probation. You may remember that Kilpatrick pleaded guilty in 2008 to two counts of obstruction of justice, agreeing to a deal whereby he would serve four months in jail, five years probation, resign as mayor, give up his state pension and his law license, and pay $1 million in restitution to the City of Detroit.
