The weather service issued a coastal flood watch for areas of central New Jersey, eastern New York and southern Connecticut through tomorrow morning, meaning conditions will be favorable for flooding.
Some locations away from the coast may see a mix of rain and snow, the National Weather Service said. Several inches of snow are forecast to fall in the central Appalachian Mountains, which make the roads slippery and bring down trees and power lines, said AccuWeather.com, a private forecaster based in State College, Pennsylvania.
Travel delays began to build on the East Coast this morning, with the weather slowing flights heading to airports in Atlanta; Newark, New Jersey; New York; and Philadelphia by at least an hour.
