Called a “phytoalexin”, plants naturally produce Resveratrol to fight against bacteria and fungi caused by the environmental stress and the severe of weather conditions. Stemming from the term elixir, or “elixir of life”, phytoalexins are extremely important to plant life, just as resveratrol can be important to animals and humans for its antioxidant benefits.
The downside of resveratrol is that up until now it has only been available as a component of red wine. Lucky for us though, resveratrol supplements now offer us a concentrated dose of resveratrol without the calories. Humans are now able to consume in one little pill, the amount of resveratrol typically available in several bottles of wine.
Fat Loss with Resveratrol
Mammals given higher doses of resveratrol in lab experiments, despite being fed a high calorie diet, did not gain weight. They also experienced a slower aging process and developed a cardiovascular system that is the equivalent of a human marathoner. Simply supplementing with resveratrol made those lab rats much healthier. The positive weight loss effects attributed to those laboratory animals are experienced in humans too.
Resveratrol suppresses estrogen, which is partially responsible for those wonderful fat loss effects. Estrogen suppression is directly linked to decreased body fat and increase muscle mass. Essentially there’s no way to take resveratrol in the proper doses, and not feel any fat loss or muscle building effects. With a slight decrease in body fat and a slight increase in muscle mass, your body will experience a dramatic metabolic shift, making you harder and leaner than ever before.
