A number of shrewd buys in the summer has seen City start the season in a perfect fashion with four wins from their first four games. City has emerged as a genuine contender to challenge for a place in the Champions League next season with a stunning 4-2 win over Arsenal last weekend.

While United have started the season well with four wins from their first five matches, they are yet to put up a convincing display apart from the 5-0 thumping of Wigan Athletic in their second match. United go into the derby with yet another labored win against Besiktas in their Champions League clash on Tuesday with Paul Scholes providing the winner late in the game.
However Scholes will be unavailable for the match on Sunday with the former England international receiving his marching orders against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
City will also be missing a key player in the form of Adebayor who has been charged with improper conduct by the FA after his antics against Arsenal. Carlos Tevez, Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz are also out of action with injuries and are unavailable for the trip to Old Trafford.
